Restored view of the ruins of Mission La Purisma Concepción (Immaculate Conception) near Lompoc, California,  1883 by Henry Chapman Ford.  Founded on December 8, 1787 by Father Fermín Lasuén, it was destroyed by the 1812 Ventura earthquake on December 12, 1812, and subsequently rebuilt in 1813 four miles northeast.
