These are our most frequently asked questions.  Feel free to contact us at if you don’t find what you’re looking for.

Q:  Do your maps come framed?
A:  Our maps do not come framed.  The product photos you see are for illustration purposes only.  It would be extremely expensive to frame and ship our maps, and we recommend you take them to your retail frame store.  Most of our regular-sized maps fit standard frames that you can get at Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, etc. for $25-$60, depending on the quality of the frame.  You can have them custom-framed as well.  Refer to our section on Framing Your Map –

Q:  How are they shipped?
A:  Our maps are enclosed in a protective plastic sleeve and in a sturdy mailing tube, and shipped first class through United States Postal Service.

Q:  How long does it take to get a map once I place an order:
A:  Our maps usually ship out the same or the next business day from Austin, Texas, and you’ll receive an email with tracking information the day that it is shipped.  You can expect to receive your order within 5 business days once it’s shipped, and about 10 days if ordering from Canada.  Overseas shipping can take up to a month. Note:  pandemics and weather conditions can delay shipping around the country, which can delay your order up to two weeks or longer, depending on the destination.

Q:  What if I really need to get the map quickly?  Are the other options for shipping?
A:  We can express ship your map to you, even overnight if necessary.  Contact us for the additional costs.

Q:  Do your maps come in smaller sizes other than what’s listed?
A:  We’ll be glad to re-format to a size that works for you, although we don’t recommend much smaller than our regular sized maps since those are pretty close to the original map sizes.  Just let us know what you need by giving us instructions in “Order Notes” in your shopping cart and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

Q:  Can you print larger sizes than what’s listed?
A:  We can print up to 4 1/2 feet x 12 feet.  Contact us for a price quote.

Q:  I don’t see my town in your catalog.  Do you have additional ones that are not on the site?
A:  We’re always working on a few maps and upload new ones from time to time.  Let us know what you’re looking for.  Not every city and town had a map done originally, so a map of your town may not exist.

Q:  Are your maps the real, authentic original ones?
A:  Our maps are restored reproductions of the originals.

Q:  Do you sell original maps?
A:  We don’t sell original maps.  They are available from other map dealers for typically $5,000-$25,000, depending on condition.

Q:  I’ve seen other dealers on the internet that sell the same maps.  How do they differ from your maps?
A:  Most all these other dealers simply download the maps from the National Archives and print out a copy in their current (usually dilapidated) condition.  Our maps are repaired and restored so that they have the look and feel of how they were when originally produced, and for about the same price (or less).  Even some of the dealers that claim their maps are restored are not restored to the extent that our maps are.  Our maps are an entirely different product.

Q:  Can you ship to a foreign country, other than Canada?
A:  Yes, we can ship to just about any major city in the world.  Additional shipping cost is usually around $30-40.  

Q:  Are your color maps available in black and white?
A:  All of our color maps are available in black and white, with an antique sepia look.  Just enter “black & white” in “Order Notes” when your place your order. 

Q:  How do we know if you have the map we want in stock?
A:  Each map is custom printed when we receive your order, so we don’t have an inventory to run out of.

Q:  Can you include a gift card?
A:  We’ll be glad to include a birthday card (or for any other occasion) at no additional cost.  Just tell us what you’d like to say in the “Order Notes” section of your shopping cart.

Q:  What does it mean when the tracking in formation says “Late and in transit” with no indication of where it is?
A:  That typically means it’s in between us and your regional postal facility, and awaiting transfer to your local post office. That could mean a delay of a few extra days.

Q:  Are your large maps as clear as the regular sized ones?
A:  Most of our large maps are just as clear as the regular sized ones, however some maps have decreased clarity and are really not for extra-closeup viewing.  In cases where the large maps just aren’t clear enough, we opt not to offer them and only carry the regular size.

Q:  Why do you charge a restocking fee on returns?
A:  All of our maps are custom printed to order and we don’t keep any in inventory.  Due to space limitations we are not able to store maps and when we have a return we may not be able to sell it again for a while.
