FAQs
These are our most frequently asked questions. Feel free to contact us at vintagecitymaps@gmail.com if you don't find what you're looking for.
I'm having a problem getting my order to go through. Can you take orders over the phone?
Yes, just call us at 512-422-5664. If you get our voicemail we'll call you back as soon as we can.
Are these map the originals?
Our maps are reproductions of the originals.
What if I really need to get the map quickly? Are the other options for shipping?
We can express ship your map to you, even overnight if necessary. Contact us for the additional costs.
Do your maps come in smaller sizes other than what’s listed?
We’ll be glad to re-format to a size that works for you, although we don’t recommend much smaller than our regular sized maps since those are pretty close to the original map sizes. Just let us know what you need by giving us instructions in “Order Notes” in your shopping cart and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
Can you print larger sizes than what’s listed?
We can print up to 4 1/2 feet x 12 feet. Contact us for a price quote.
I don’t see my town in your catalog. Do you have additional ones that are not on the site?
We’re always working on a few maps and upload new ones from time to time. Let us know what you’re looking for. Not every city and town had a map done originally, so a map of your town may not exist.
Do you sell original maps?
We don’t sell original maps. They are available from other map dealers for typically $5,000-$25,000, depending on condition.
I’ve seen other dealers on the internet that sell the same maps. How do they differ from your maps?
Most all the other dealers simply download the maps from open sources and print out a copy in their current (usually dilapidated) condition. Our maps are repaired and restored so that they have the look and feel of how they were when originally produced, and for about the same price (or less). The other dealers that claim their maps are restored are not at all like our products.
Can you ship to a foreign country, other than Canada?
Yes, we can ship to just about any major city in the world. Additional shipping cost is usually around $30-40.
Are your color maps available in black and white?
All of our color maps are available in black and white, with an antique sepia look. Just enter “black & white” in “Order Notes” when your place your order.
How do we know if you have the map we want in stock?
Each map is custom printed when we receive your order, so we don’t have an inventory to run out of.
Can you include a greeting card?
We’ll be glad to include a birthday card (or for any other occasion) at no additional cost. Just tell us what you’d like to say in the “Order Notes” section of your shopping cart.
Are your large maps as clear as the regular sized ones?
Most of our large maps are just as clear as the regular sized ones, however some maps have decreased clarity and are really not for extra-closeup viewing. In cases where the large maps just aren’t clear enough, we opt not to offer them and only carry the regular size.
Why do you charge a restocking fee on returns?
All of our maps are custom printed to order and we don’t keep any in inventory. Due to space limitations we are not able to store maps and when we have a return we may not be able to sell it again for a while.
I need a size that's a little different than what you have listed. Is there a way to have the map printed in a custom size?
Yes, we can reformat it to just about any size you need at no extra charge.
In handling my print I accidently put a big wrinkle in it. Is there a way to fix it?
Dry-mounting cures a lot of ills, and most any dent or wrinkle will be barely noticeable if at all. Any frame dealer can dry mount your print for you and in fact we always recommend dry-mounting to avoid warping in the frame over time.
