Restored bird’s eye view of the Lick Observatory on Mt. Hamilton near San Jose, California, 1899. It was the world’s first permanently occupied mountain-top observatory and home to the 36-inch Great Lick Refractor, which was the largest refracting telescope at the time of its completion in 1888.
