Restored view of Mission and Church of Santa Clara de Asis, the site of the present Jesuit College showing the after-mass holiday gathering of rancheros and the family oxcart, 1846 by Edward Vischer.  Founded in 1777 by the Franciscans and located on the Santa Clara University campus, the mission was named for Saint Clare of Assisi, who founded the order of the Poor Clares and was an early companion of St. Francis of Assisi.
